About
My passion is to connect Asia’s dots and people to make sense of the transformations shaping the world’s most vibrant economic region in the 21st century—and share it with you.
I am a Seoul based journalist, author and speaker with more than fifteen years experience covering Asia from the region. I am currently Asia correspondent for Le Figaro, (www.lefigaro.fr), the most popular news portal in France and one of the longest running newspapers in the world, founded in 1826.
I was previously based in Beijing, Shanghai, and Brussels. My byline also appeared in the Financial Times, Politico, Geo Magazine, Le Temps. I was correspondent for Jane’s Defence Weekly (JDW) Le Point Magazine and Europolitics.
My interest lies at the intersection of geopolitics, tech, politics and society trends across a fast-growing region worth a third of global GDP.
From Fukushima to democratic protest in Hong Kong, Trump-Kim historic handshake in Singapore, or a military coup in Bangkok I have been at the forefront of the major crisis across this turbulent region of more than 2 billion people.
I interviewed some of the most influential leaders in the region including Indonesia’s president Joko Widodo, Alibaba founder Jack Ma, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Mahathir or South Korea’s presidents Park Guen Hye and Lee Myung Bak.
I have been covering crisis, trends, technological and social transformations across the region extensively, through numerous reportages in the field.
I am the author of four books, including the bestselling “A Thousand miles to Freedom : my escape from North Korea” (St Martin’s press) with defector Eunsun Kim. I have also contributed to the Louis Vuitton Seoul City Guide.
Born in Paris, I studied history in Sorbonne University, then International relations at the London School of Economics.
